A peaceful loop walk through one of the largest remaining kohekohe forests in New Zealand.
Trail Info
About the trail
Tucked into the foothills above Waikanae, the Kohekohe Walk is a short and easy 30-minute loop that winds through lush native forest. The track is well-formed and relatively flat, making it ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Short and sweet, and popular with locals, it’s a peaceful path rich with birdlife. In early winter, the kohekohe trees bloom with delicate white flowers, making this walk especially stunning during the flowering season.
For those keen to explore further, the Kohekohe Walk connects with the steeper Parata and Te Au Tracks - perfect if you’re after more of a challenge and sweeping views.
