About Queen Elizabeth Park
Rich in history
Step back in time with a visit to the Wellington Tramway Museum, where you can hop aboard a vintage tram to relive some classic kiwi nostalgia.
Steeped in history, the park also includes pa sites at Whareroa and Wainui beaches and memorials of the US marine camps from World War II, when 20,000 American troops were stationed at Queen Elizabeth Park (then Camp Russell), Whareroa Farm (then Camp Mackay) and Paekākāriki Village (then Camp Paekākāriki).
Outdoor adventures
An unforgettable experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, Queen Elizabeth Park features a network of scenic trails perfect for walking, cycling or horse-riding.
Explore the park’s tranquil wetlands and spot a variety of birdlife, or keep an eye on the skies to catch the action of the model aircraft flown by the Kāpiti Aeromodellers Club.
